newznab and the elusive -INF

Some people running newznab can run into an issue if the connection to the news provider is lost during backfill, and the only thing which happen is that it will spit out:

Getting next article date... -INF
Error : Failed to write to socket! (connection lost!)

The only "standard" way to fix this is to stop the process and start again. This should not be necessary as the only thing the code needs to check for is "-INF", and then just stop processing that group.

Adding the following to /www/lib/backfill.php at line 259

$pos=stripos($upperbound,"INF");
if(($pos !== false)) {
echo "Something went horrible wrong!!....n";
return "";
}

just after

if($debug) echo "Getting next article date... $upperboundn";

Will break the loop and make it process the next group.

Great idea for the fix, could you give code around the fix as my backfill.php is looking different to yours as line 259 is an echo and 260 is a return.

It looked like they fixed it in a later version, I did not have to add this to the latest updates ....

Kviknet and IPv6

 I decided to switch ISP, mainly due to Hiper (Danish) was using a VLAN for their connection which made pfSense and my APU3 board require a reboot everytime I changed anything. Kviknet has a good reputation (wonder why) in Denmark, they are not cheap and they have the same opening hours as everyone else - meaning until 16:30 and closed during weekends. Apple IOS cannot download song

It looks like there is a possibility that a song will not download, in iTunes (application) it will show as "Download error. Tap to retry". From that point onwards, one can tap, and continue to tap, and nothing will solve the issue. The way to remove that song from the download queue, is to tap, and hold on the cover art, and swipe right, that will change the download icon to 'delete' and one can remove the song from the queue.

Apple AirPort Express and Digital Jitter..

I'm doing something which I can't really afford, but doing it anyway ... I'm upgrading my Stereo ... I like music, and  believe it should be played at the highest affordable quality.
