Keyboards…

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006 |

So I thourght I would be smart to get an cordless fullsize keyboard for my MacBook Pro.. I’ve always liked Logitech mice, and thoutght that getting the S530 solution from Logitech would be a good idea. Well I kind of missed out on the not being a bluetooth keyboard/mouse I would have to use a USB dongle which I dislike.

Apart from that, the keyboard itself is a bit flimsy (very much like the cheap keyboards you get in your local hardware store when you get the cheapest you can get), the mouse is not too bad, but I find that it lack a bit on the response.

Overall it’s not worth the money I paid for it, and therefor it will probably never get used – by me.

I’m now on the search for a good bluetooth mouse, and will probably get the bluetooth keyboard from Apple, as it seams that they still know how to make keyboards.

Safari bug?

Sunday, April 30th, 2006 |

Ok, been playing around with my website (www.exilepixel.com), was testing it with firefox where it looked nice. Then I gave it a go with Safari and suddenly the colors of the background bitmaps didn’t look the same. Strange, oh well I remove the background bitmaps, as it looked ok without them (atleast until I could figure out what the problem was.

The site is build with pixelpost using the dOLicHoCePhaLe template, and the colors in the bitmaps used are ok using Microsoft Internet Explore and Firefox, but strangely enough Safari get’s it wrong. The background of the body is a 10×10 bitmap expanded using css.

So talking to a friend who know more about these things, he pointed out that png is probably not the best fileformat for this… back to the drawing board.

So I opened the bitmaps, and saved them as jpg and this time with the color profile (sRGB) embedded, bingo problem solved, it now looks as it should do.

Lesson learned; don’t use png and when saving the bitmaps remember to include the color profile.

Apple/Mac Keyboards…… (followup)

Ok, it seams like Apple doesn’t listen to their customer (hummm, and that is something you say). It is impossible to get an US English keyboard in Europe (or anything with the same – read Notebook).

So after spend a few € on a MacBook, I’m trying to find a spare part US keyboard, and then change it. Ok, I’m getting used to it, but it’s still a bit anoying as everything else I use have US keyboards attached to it/them….

Here you can insert your favorite @#$!@%@##%$&^#$%&

Apple/Mac Keyboards……

Thursday, April 20th, 2006 |

So I ordered an Apple Keyboard from the Online Dutch Apple Store, which is here I would like to mention that I actually ordered an Internation English Keyboard, and what I got was an UK English keyboard…..

So I call them (Apple), and asked if it was possible to get an US English keyboard.. Nop.. You will have to go to a store and ask them to help you…

And now that I’m in the market for the MacBook Pro I might have to goto the US to get one, to be sure that I get it with the right keyboard, as I do not want to pay close to 3.000 euro for something which will end up anoying me like hell….

iTunes and TV series

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006 |

Hi great, it possible to download some of you favorite tv series to watch on your computer or your (if you have one) vidio ipod.

Cool….. but hey, this is only if you live in the US (and maybe also Canada – but I have not tried the iTunes store for Canada, so who know?).

So what to do, well you can either wait until Apple decides to enable this feature for the store in the country where you live, or you can use Amazon to buy the DVD’s, or as someone suggested to me the other day use bittorrent to download them. There are a lots of options open for the tv series hungry person…..
