Is there something more anoying, than going to a website, and then suddenly you remember that you did not turn down the volumes?
The most (for me) right now is a Danish newspaper – Jyllands Posten – also in commonly called Jyllands Pesten
For some odd reason they think that people actually like get spoken adverts – I don’t and I really really get anoyed
Yes I know that there are extensions for Firefox, which can block these things, but then they break other websites (which I need to have access to through my work, or for other reasons).
Why the <insert apropiate word here> can one not mute the Macromedia plugin?
I would like to suggest that everyone, who run into these websites, write to the webmaster and tell how much they like this… maybe with some luck they will stop using them.

Doing some other reading I stumbled over this thread (letter to OLPC) over at bsd-misc. First OLPC is short for One Laptop Per Child, and it is an initiate to produce US $100 Laptops which can be distributed to children in the 3rd world – read more here.
Now the interesting part is that Redhat signed a NDA with Mavell to be able to write the wireless driver for these laptops, which means that this driver will probably be a binary only driver. And as far as I know this is against GPL, and the spirit of OpenSource – read more here for how RedHat thinks about other companies who have done something which is not even as bad
Now the intersting part, when one follows the thread on bsd-misc are comments like:
Red Hat (and a number of other linux distros) are morally bankrupt. By that I mean the sit under the linux banner touting the GPL, and yet this is not how they act. They act in a way that helps to ensure that
GPL'ed software can not continue to be written.
And it goes on.
For some odd reason no one picked up one this, normally one would expect ./ to be filled with outraged people, who would demand that the driver code would be released, or that RedHat should stop working with them, or RedHat should close…. but no, silence…..
Me personally could probably not care much, I think it’s a shame that the OLPC choose a chipset which would require an NDA (and therefor a close source driver), but on the other hand it is a better thing if it will be possible to distribute 10 million of these laptops in the 3rd world
On the other hand, one can wonder why people is not yelling/complaing/ranting about this, as there are people out there who believe that close source (also know as proprietary software) is something which should be banned, or said in another way that it is something the guy below invented.

Reading this (from spiegel.de/international), I understand that some people have come up with a “great” idea. They want to make away with trafic signs…
Reading this, make we wonder if the people makeing these decisions actually driver car, motorbike, bicycles, or just walk. Most people who move around in the trafic tend to ignore trafic signs in the first place, do they actually think that removing them will help!!
Living in a country where most indicators (you know the flashing things which will tell other people that you intend to leave the road, or change lane) are broken (even on new cars), this will not really help.
But it will probably save them some money on the budges, which will then be spend on mending people in hospitals instead, but that is a diffrent budget.
Also reading that Makkinga (some please in the Dutch province of Western Frisia) have done this, is kind of scarry.. But the worst part is that they will replace the tarmac with cobblestones instead is frightening; that will cause some broken bones for motorbike riders – these thing are slippery when they are wet, and it will cause acidents. But who cares it’s only a motorbike rider… praise to stupidity

I’ve been following the Novell/Microsoft discussions on Groklaw lately, and have to say that quality of some of the entries does not really enlighten me much.
It is especially comments like “makes me puke”, or “boycot novell”. Not that it really matters in this discussion. But when I compare the what Groklaw have done (and still is doing) in the IBM vs. SCO, Novell vs. SCO, and RedHat vs. SCO cases one can start speculating about if the success they have had in these cases have produced a monster.
With monster I mean it have started to attract the kind of people who would be quite happy to have their word on a public forum, but am not able to express anything usefull, to the people who feel that their success in other ways allow them to be obnoxious (where I come from we call them childish).
/. is know for entries from people with “extreme” views (always good for a good laugh), but as Groklaw have been know for having a very objectiv view, starting to get this kind of entries might cause the site to loose some of it’s apeal as it might not continue to be seen as a serious place for getting information.
Many will probably disagree with me, but remember that opinions are not always formed by the people who have the loudest voice.

Ok, it’s now official autumn.
I normally do not really complain about the weather (except for the normal; “oh it’s raining”, or “shitty weater yesterday, spend my whole sunday on the sofa with hangovers”).
But it is now so “cold” that I’m starting to think about finding my winter gloves, and that means that I’m not having fun riding to work in the mornings….
Ok, it could be worse, but I still do not enjoy it!!

So Paris Hilton have released an album…. I’ve (by accident) heard on of the songs on MTV… Maybe she should have continued just being famous for the reason of being famous. Oh, if you have enough money to buy your way into the music industry then why not, but please do not play that record where I can hear it….

Hi great, it possible to download some of you favorite tv series to watch on your computer or your (if you have one) vidio ipod.
Cool….. but hey, this is only if you live in the US (and maybe also Canada – but I have not tried the iTunes store for Canada, so who know?).
So what to do, well you can either wait until Apple decides to enable this feature for the store in the country where you live, or you can use Amazon to buy the DVD’s, or as someone suggested to me the other day use bittorrent to download them. There are a lots of options open for the tv series hungry person…..
